The year is 2405 and the United Federation of Planets continues to emerge from a time of turmoil and turbulence. The Synth Attack on Mars and the Evacuation of Romulus lead the Federation to halt exploration and focus on their own security. But, as the dust settles, the Federation Council and Starfleet Command is determined to return to their origins and revive the spirit of exploration and the pursuit of diplomacy that once defined what Starfleet was. However, with the wounds still fresh, Starfleet demands a cautious approach.

Within the pursuit, the Federation has commissioned a new class of starship, the Surnia-class. The USS Surnia, the flagship of this new class, represents the cutting edge of technological advancement and scientific research. It has a dual-mission: one of securing the Federation's safety through intelligence, and one to push the boundaries of scientific knowledge through research.

The USS Surnia is dispatched the far-reaches of the Beta-quadrant. This region is filled with uncharted regions, newly inhabited worlds, and just founded colonies ripe for diplomacy. Though, with that comes unknown enemies, undiscovered phenomena, and mysterious areas of space. The Surnia's primary mission is to identify and neutralize emerging threats far before they pose serious danger to the Federation. Covert surveillance, strategic analysis, and intelligence reconnaissance are vital to this mission and are essential in ensuring the Federation remains three-steps ahead of potential enemies.

At the same time, the Surnia has a quest for research and scientific discovery. Aboard are its state-of-the-art laboratories, sensor arrays, and research equipment. This vessel serves to explore new worlds, conduct groundbreaking research, and develop the next generation of Starfleet technology.
